Organizational Structure - Committees

The CAC has a number of standing committees as well as numerous ad hoc committees which have been formed to respond to specific, usually short-term, organizational needs. All committees welcome contributions and assistance from interested individuals. You can contact Committee chairs by e-mail, fax (613-231-4406), or mail (CAC,  207 Bank Street, Suite 419,
Ottawa, ON, K2P 2N2 CANADA).

Activities : Continue to report on activities of interest to the membership; incorporate news from CAPC within the CAC Bulletin, in accordance with the new linkage by-laws.

Membership Committee

Chair: Irene Karsten
Membership Coordinator: Danielle Allard

Objectives: To promote and administer membership in the corporation.

Translation Committee

Chair: Vacant

Objectives: To investigate and evaluate on-going training activities and training needs of the Canadian conservation community, and to develop new training and grant initiatives, and co-ordinate the disbursement of grants as necessary.

Journal Committee

Chairs: Carole Dignard and Irene Karsten

The Journal of the Canadian Association for Conservation publishes one issue annually, with all editorial, translation, management, and production functions performed by the members of the committee. The committee, which meets monthly to discuss and process manuscripts, solicits the input of two or more referees from Canada and abroad to review each paper prior to acceptance and final editing. The committee is accepting articles of a scientific, technological, treatment-related, philosophical, or educational nature.

Communication Committee

Chair: David Daley

Objectives: To improve the visibility and understanding of conservation among the general public and related professions, and to promote effective communication within CAC.

CAC Grants and Awards Committee

Chair: Kasey Brewer

Objectives: To provide grants for CAC members to attend the Annual Meeting and Workshop. Funds are also available to members to assist in the organization of training activities for conservators and training in conservation-related fields to raise public awareness and knowledge of conservation.
