Brandon Finney, Emerging Conservator Award Recipient 2019

Brandon Finney completed his Masters of Art Conservation (paintings stream) at Queen’s University in 2018.  His research project was: Cleaning Painted Surfaces with Ionic Liquids: Boosting the Efficacy of Isopropanol with 1-Ethyl-3-Methylimidazolium. He completed internships at Legris Fine Art Conservation and the National Gallery of Canada.  He has begun a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) fellowship in paintings conservation at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia. This fellowship will focus on Thomas Cole’s monument painting, The Angel Appearing to the Shepherds (1833-34). Brandon also holds an honors BSc degree (with high distinction) from the University of Toronto and has won several awards for academic excellence.
